Shots fired: Crooked Adam Crum attacks Treg Taylor for not being pro-Trump enough

The August primary is more than nine months away, but the attacks are already starting in the crowded Republican filed for governor.

In a bizarre press release, Crooked Adam Crum “demanded” that Treg Taylor “immediately cancel his upcoming Washington, D.C. fundraiser co-hosted by former Attorneys General who have openly opposed President Donald J. Trump and the America First Agenda.”

Crum then went on stroke Trump in a way that would make even the most ardent Trump supporter uncomfortable. You have to read the press release to understand how truly loose it is, especially the part about Crum standing “shoulder-to-shoulder with President Trump and all that he’s doing to fight for our country.”

Crum and Taylor are two of a dozen Republican candidates running for Alaska’s open governor’s seat next year. Governor Mike Dunleavy (R – Alaska) is termed out.

Both held positions in the Dunleavy administration. Crum served as Health commissioner and then Revenue commissioner. Taylor served as attorney general.

The Republican gubernational candidates are all seeking the coveted Trump endorsement. Crum, and his high priced lower 48 consulting firm Strategic Impact, apparently feel that attacking Taylor for holding a fundraiser with Jeff Sessions and Bill Barr is a good strategy for getting Trump’s attention.

Sessions and Barr both served as attorney general in the first Trump administration but later got sideways with Trump – Sessions for recusing himself from the Mueller investigation into Russian collusion in the 2016 election and Barr for not agreeing with Trump about irregularities in the 2020 election.

A 90 degree January day in Anchorage is more likely than Crum getting Trump’s endorsement. The Landmine broke the story about Crum quietly investing $50 million from the Constitutional Budget Reserve in a private equity scheme before departing as Revenue commissioner. Governor Dunleavy’s office has since contracted a national law firm to investigate what Crum did.

In May, the Landmine published a story about how Crum was caught taking an unauthorized family vacation to Hawaii during the legislative session while he was Revenue commissioner.

When asked abut Crum’s press release, a spokesperson for the Taylor campaign told the Landmine, “Treg Taylor has proudly stood with President Trump and the America First agenda. As Attorney General, Treg went to war with the Biden administration and defended Alaska. Adam Crum’s desperate attacks are nothing more than an attempt to distract from his own mounting issues.”

Crum was recently in D.C. claiming he had meetings at the White House about the governor’s race. He left out that Trump and his team were in Asia while Crum was in D.C.

Alaska politics never fail to entertain — nine months out and the GOP race is already getting messy. It’s fascinating how chasing Trump’s endorsement still seems to outweigh real local issues.

I’ll say it again for the slow learners – if you like Trump, not piecemeal policy like stricter immigration enforcement, or tariffing foreign imports, but the man himself, the demagogue, the charlatan, the man who was best friends with Jeffrey Epstein for 15 years and ran “beauty pageants” with him. You are more likely than not: a misogynist, a fascist, and someone who does not deserve either trust or love.
