Six of Anchorage’s 12 Assembly seats are up this year. Three incumbents – Assembly members Zac Johnson, Anna Brawley and George Martinez – are seeking re-election. Two Assembly members, Chris Constant and Felix Rivera, are termed out. And Assembly member Scott Myers is not seeking re-election.
Ballots for the Assembly races, two Anchorage School Board races, and bond propositions go out in the mail on March 17. They are due back by April 7.
The Landmine will be doing debates for all six Assembly races, though some candidates did not respond to our invitation. And we did not invite candidates who are not raising money and campaigning.
You can watch the debate for District 5 – Seat I – East Anchorage with Assembly member George Martinez and Cody Anderson below.
Thanks to George and Cody for participating. And a big thanks to our sponsors for making these debates possible!

☑️ George Martinez
This is so easy.
Next!
“………This is so easy……….”
Youn fancy yourself as an accomplished wordsmith and intellectual. Why don’t you try explaining why Martinez, the New York City Occupy Wall Streeter activist, is such an easy pick over Cody Anderson, the Air Force veteran and associate pastor?
Mr. Kevin McCabe! Are you doing okay today?
Yeah, Hi. Are you still high? Kinda’‘ breezy……….like you. No mention of Martinez or Anderson? The subject matter doesn’t matter? Got a boogerman under under your bed?
It’s honestly funny that you don’t realize you basically gave yourself away. You jumped in to defend against a comment that wasn’t even directed at you, while insisting you’re not Kevin McCabe. Not exactly convincing. And the rest of what you said doesn’t help your case. That ozempic may be eating your brain.
Did you receive your absentee ballot yet at your Las Vegas address?
