From August 14 to 15, 2025, large numbers of Anchorage residents took to the streets in response to the August 15 summit here between President Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin. Pro-Ukrainian demonstrators expressed outrage at the prospect of Putin, whose brutal invasion of Ukraine has leveled cities and killed tens of thousands, being welcomed onto American soil. Meanwhile, MAGA members organized a festive rally praising Trump and the prospect (however slim) of a Ukrainian peace plan.

On Thursday, August 14, a huge protest and rally in support of Ukraine lined the Seward Highway between Benson and Northern Lights, overflowing into adjacent streets. Attendees voiced support for Ukraine, called for the return of Ukrainian children abducted by Russia, and denounced President Trump’s invitation of Russian President and ICC-indicted war criminal Vladimir Putin to Alaska. Many signs criticized Trump and called attention to Trump’s controversial relationship with the deceased financier and pedophile Jeffery Epstein.

On August 15, Anchorage Republicans rallied to support President Trump, who was in town to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The rally featured enthusiastic cheering and dancing amidst a sea of American and MAGA flags, with the occasional Gadsden and Israeli flag sprinkled in. Attendees verbally sparred with a couple pro-Palestinian counter-protesters, though the debates were largely drowned out by the sound of cars and trucks honking in support.

Yesterday, Anchorage protesters welcomed Russia’s President Putin by unfurling one of the largest Ukrainian flags in the world. The event drew a very large crowd to the Park Strip, in downtown Anchorage. In addition to unfurling the massive flag, protesters held signs supporting Ukraine, mocking President Trump, and highlighting Ukraine and Alaska’s shared history as former Russian colonial possessions.
I’m unfamiliar with this new Trump is a pedophile claim. Anyone want to explain? Any facts or just pissed off people coming up with a heinous claim because they don’t like the guy?

I find Trump distasteful in many ways, and always have. Back in the 80’s, I used to wonder why TV and sports anchors and reporters would even put the clown on the screen.
