Patriot Freedom PAC, a group supporting Republican U.S. Senate candidate Kelly Tshibaka, were supposed to hand out 20,000 “Vote for Kelly Tshibaka” lightsabers today at a park in Anchorage. But a spokesperson for the group, Michael Alfaro, informed people that the lightsabers are still being held by U.S. Customs. It’s not clear what country the lightsabers were produced in.

On October 9, the group held a sparsely attended rally at the Dena’ina Center in Anchorage for Tshibaka and Republican U.S. House candidate Sarah Palin. The event featured a James Brown impersonator and a mechanical bull. At the end, Alfaro announced the PAC had ordered the 20,000 Tshibaka lightsabers but they were being held by Customs. Tshibaka’s name is pronounced just like the iconic Star Wars character Chewbacca.

On Sunday, the PAC announced they would be handing out the lightsabers at Javier de la Vega Park in Anchorage today from 10 am – 1 pm. But when people arrived at the park to collect their lightsabers, they found Alfaro standing in front of a locked gate. He explained to people that U.S. Customs has still not released the lightsabers, but they are in Anchorage. In a video interview with the Landmine he said they hope to have them ready to hand out tomorrow. He added they come in pink, red, green, and blue.
