Bill Popp endorses Suzanne LaFrance for Anchorage mayor

At a press conference this afternoon in front of City Hall, Bill Popp announced his endorsement of Anchorage mayoral candidate Suzanne LaFrance. She faces Anchorage Mayor Dave Bronson in a run-off election that will be held on May 14.

Unofficial results show Popp finishing in third place in the first round of the election with just under 17% of the vote. No candidate got close to the 45% plus 1 required to avoid a run-off. LaFrance received 36.2% while Bronson received 35.5%.

Popp’s campaign focused on developing a vision to get Anchorage back on track after years of problems with housing, homelessness, snow plowing, and fighting amongst the mayor and Assembly.

In a press release, Popp made the following statement:

Considering the outcome of the general election, I am endorsing Suzanne LaFrance for Mayor of Anchorage. My candidacy for Mayor was focused on bringing non-partisanship to the office of Mayor with what is best for Anchorage being front and center, both today and a decade from now. I believe Suzanne shares my perspectives on solutions to the key issues facing our city. As our new Mayor, she will ensure our government will effectively address the issues our city faces today while setting in motion long-term strategies to revitalize Anchorage. These strategies will set our city back on a path to success and vitality. I wish Suzanne the best of luck and success in the upcoming runoff election on May 14 as our city works to get back on track to a bright future for our community.

The first round of the election is scheduled to be certified on April 23. Ballots for the run-off go out at the end of April and the election concludes on May 14. The winner will be sworn in on July 1.

Destroy how? How did LaFrance and her “cronies” destroy Anchorage?

That actually is a surprise to me as Popp is more a bit right of center and LaFrance slides quite a ways left of center. Bronson being very right of center. Bronson is his own worst enemy and a terrible manager. What is worse is the guy never accepts his mistakes, blames others for them and takes no responsibility before or after the calamities he must address.

Do you mean how are they still destroying Anchorage? If you have to ask then you are part of the problem.

Details would be a good thing to add here, if you have an actual point. Right now you’re just an old man yelling at a cloud

Well, I have to ask, as would any honest reader of the gratuitous assertion you posed as fact. Here’s your chance – inform me.
