We Build Alaska

An Alaska Landmine original film: “Somehow, This is Still Anchorage”

After decades of homelessness and public camping negatively impacting Anchorage residents and business owners, the problem has yet to be dealt with. This film explores how and why homelessness in Anchorage is worse, as well as how changing legal decisions have impacted the city’s response.

In the summer of 2019, we produced “This is Anchorage,” a film that explored the growing homelessness problem in Alaska’s largest city. Two years later, we produced a follow-up film, “This is Still Anchorage,” which further explored the issue amid Covid and other challenges.

A big thanks to everyone who contributed to the making of this film and to all who participated in it.

If you enjoyed this film, please consider donating to the Landmine. We rely on donations and support to make films like this possible.

We are looking like San Francisco, Chicago, etc. Where is the responsibility of the regional corporations for their people? Where is the VA for the service men and women?

The Regional corporations are only talk, they will not put any money out for homeless Alaska Natives. Their excuse probably is that the homeless natives don’t belong to any corporations. Unfortunately the VA cannot help the vets unless they go to the VA and ask for the help. The problem is the drugs and alcohol. It doesn’t help one homeless person when someone gives them money on a street corner. Turn the Northway mall into a shelter. But then, why are tax payers responsible for the homeless? Make their relatives responsible for their homeless family members.

Summary
Blah blah homeless smell and I have no solutions

Blah blah someone else should pay

Blah blah mental health concerns are a personal choice like MS?

Blah blah I have no compassion

I overall like the series, perhaps next time interview folks working at API and ask them what are some viable solutions to the homeless/mental health crisis and what these solutions will cost.

Anchorage is gross these days

Apply all muni laws. Trespassing, littering, illegal camping.

Tired of paying for this mess. This is on you, LaFrance. The Supreme Court got it right.

Now DO something.

You reap what you sow, Anchorage.
Elect Democrats and this what you get.
Are you that blind? Portland, San Francisco, Detroit, Seattle, Atlanta, Chicago, etc. Every one of those cities have been ruined by the demonic left.
