On the eve of a high-stakes and historic summit in Anchorage between the United States and Russia about the war in Ukraine, Tasha Boyer Dunbar, wife of Senator Forrest Dunbar (D – Anchorage), has a deadly message for both President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin: she hopes both of their planes crash.
In a Ukrainian flag inspired outfit and holding a handmade sign that read, “I can see fascists from my house,” Boyer Dunbar protested the Trump/Putin visit alongside a blue and yellow sea of fellow protesters. Boyer Dunbar was interviewed by Rolling Stone and the BBC as well as Japanese, French and Australian outlets.
When asked, “What will you be thinking when Trump and Putin land in Alaska?,” Boyer Dunbar and the reporter had this exchange:
Boyer Dunbar: I hope the plane crashes.
Reporter: Which one?
Boyer Dunbar: Why not both?
Boyer Dunbar proudly posted about the interview on her Instagram story (username imtashafierce) as well as a closeup of her Ukraine-inspired makeup with the caption “I can’t believe I made a meme poster and then BBC was asking me foreign policy questions about real world leaders…anyways here’s my makeup.”
Boyer Dunbar’s husband, Senator Forrest Dunbar, is currently on a deployment in Poland with the Alaska Army National Guard. As of now it is unclear if Senator Dunbar has seen Boyer Dunbar’s post wishing death on both leaders or what his thoughts are on her explosive interview.
Sometime late last night, Boyer Dunbar deleted the Instagram story featuring her inflammatory quote wishing for the planes of both presidents to crash. It is unclear if she had a change of heart or if someone, maybe Senator Dunbar himself, requested her to remove it. As of this morning, Boyer Dunbar continues to post media coverage featuring herself at yesterday’s protest on her Instagram. There has been no apology issued or clarification as to why she deleted her remarks.
It’s one thing to wish it. It’s another thing to voice the wish. Of course, any professional publishing the wish can’t really throw stones at a common citizen voicing the wish.
